Originally selected in the first round (10th overall pick) of the 2002 June draft by the Texas Rangers from the University of South Carolina...signed on June 26, 2002 by Rangers scout Jim Fairy...Was a career .330 (285x864) hitter for the Gamecocks in college...as a junior in 2002, hit .359 (120x334) and was named All-SEC and earned All-America honors from ABCA, Baseball America and Collegiate Baseball... helped USC to a finish as national runner-up at the 2002 College World Series...Graduated from Bishop England High School in Charleston, SC...played for the USA Baseball Junior National Team in 1999 that won a gold medal in Taiwan.

Hit .291 in 120 games at Corpus Christi with 29 doubles, one triple, five HR and 51 RBI...appeared in 99 games at second base, 14 at shortstop and two at third base.
2008
In 88 games with Oklahoma, hit .250 (71x284) with 24 RBI and 10 stolen bases.
2007
Spent the entire season with Oklahoma...hit .395 (15x38) during a season-high, 11-game hitting streak from April 15-May 15...posted a .308 average (8x26) with one homer and four RBI in June

Spent most of the season at Oklahoma with a brief stint with the big league club...combined to hit .228 (86x378) with 20 extra-base hits at Triple A...hit safely in nine of his first 11 games, hitting .360 (18x50) with four doubles, two triples and seven RBI...was selected to the Major League roster on April 19 and went 2x5 with a run scored in his MLB debut on April 21 vs. TB...played in three games at second base and one each at shortstop and in the outfield before being optioned back to Oklahoma on May 22...finished the season hitting .207 (65x314).
2005
Split the season between Double A and Triple A, combining to hit .295 (147x499) with 25 doubles, eight triples, three homers, 64 RBI and 17 stolen bases in 125 games...recorded a season-high, 15-game hitting streak from June 30-July 15, hitting .421 (24x57) during the stretch to raise his average from .301 to .323...recorded 31 multi-hit games, including a season-high four hits on two occasions...selected to the Texas League's West Division All-Star team.
2004
Hit a combined .272 (80x294) with eight doubles, two homers and 18 RBI in 74 games between Frisco and Arizona...suffered a broken left collarbone on June 12 and did not return until Aug. 31.
2003
Split the season between Stockton and Frisco, playing in 120 games with a .288 average and 17 doubles, 10 triples, five homers and 59 RBI...finished third in the Rangers organization with 33 stolen bases.
2002
In his first professional season, split time between Savannah and Tulsa, hitting .241 with a homer and 24 RBI...promoted to Tulsa at the end of the season, and started all 10 postseason games for the Drillers, hitting .290 with a team-high four doubles.
