Graduated from Edison (Huntington Beach, CA) High School in 2003…was drafted by the Angels in the 31st round of the 2003 First-Year Player Draft, but chose to attend college. Was selected by the Phillies out of Cypress College (Cypress, Calif.) in the 19th round of the 2005 First-Year Player Draft, but did not sign. During his junior year at UCLA in 2006, went 7-4 with a 2.98 ERA (129.2IP, 43ER, 100K) in 16 starts for the Bruins… was named to the PA C-10 All-Conference First Team… led the PA C-10 Conference in innings pitched, ranked fourth in strikeouts, fifth in ERA and tied for fifth in wins that season.
2013
Split the season between Cleveland (three games) and New York-AL (11) appearing in 14 games (two starts) at the Major League level, going 3-1 with a 5.50 ERA (23er, 37.2ip). Began the season with triple-A Columbus, going 3-1 with a 4.07 ERA (11er, 24.1ip) and 28 strikeouts in nine games (two starts). Had his contract purchased by the Indians on May 13 and allowed five earned runs in 3.0 innings pitched in three relief appearances before being designated for assignment on May 23. Was claimed off waivers by the Yankees from the Indians on May 25. In 13 appearances (12 starts) with triple-A Scranton Wilkes-Barre, went 1-6 with one save and a 3.84 ERA (29er, 68.0ip). As a reliever with the Yankees, went 3-0 with a 2.73 ERA (8er, 261.ip) in nine appearances.
2012
Spent entire Minor League season in the rotation at Triple-A Columbus before spending the last month of the season
with the Indians...Went 7-6 with a 4.97 ERA in 24 games/22 starts (2CG, 134.0IP, 155H, 74ER, 34BB, 79K, .288AVG).

begin until April 25 after straining his right hamstring in spring training start at Arizona on March 29...Also did not start

Split the season between AAA Columbus and Cleveland after battling for the 5th spot in spring training and showed
flashes of being a successful big league starter in the second half...Optioned out of spring training on March 25 and
opened the season in Columbus where he went 9-3 w/a 3.87 ERA in 18 starts (107.0IP, 111H, 46ER, .264AVG)...Won
5 straight starts from June 8 to June 29 as he was 5-0 with a 2.14 ERA (33.2IP, 26H, 8R/ER, 6BB, 28K)...Struck out a
season-high 10 batters on June 13 at Buffalo... Finished the month of June going 5-0 with a 2.56 ERA (38.2IP, 33H,
11R/ER, 9BB, 32K)...Ranked T3rd in the International League in wins, 10th in innings and 19th in ERA at the time of
his July 18th promotion.
Recalled on July 18 to make his 2011 MLB debut in the day game of a DH at Minnesota and spent virtually the rest
of the season with the Major League club...Won his 2011 debut at Minnesota (7.0IP, 5H, 0R, 2BB, 5K), his first win
