ANAHEIM -- Carlos Santana homered from each side of the plate, and Francisco Lindor also went deep in the Indians' 8-3 win over the Angels on Sunday at Angel Stadium to clinch a road series victory.
The Angels' Mike Trout left the game in the eighth inning after being hit by a pitch on the right hand. X-rays were negative on Trout, who sustained a right thumb contusion. Angels manager Mike Scioscia said Trout should be able to play Monday against the Twins.

Lindor opened the scoring with a homer to left in the first, followed by Santana's shot during a four-run second. The Indians jumped on Angels starter David Huff, who allowed five runs (two earned) over 1 2/3 innings. In the ninth, Santana -- hitting left-handed -- homered down the right-field line to extend the Indians' lead to 8-2.

"If we're going to start getting this into the direction we need it to be, it needs to start with our rotation," said Scioscia. "I think that will allow our bullpen to start to heal and solidify. Tim [Lincecum] will be a step in the right direction, for sure, but we're going to need more than just Tim."

Indians right-hander Danny Salazar was strong before running into trouble in the sixth, as he gave up a run on three hits over 5 2/3 innings. He struck out the Angels, who have the fewest strikeouts in the Majors, eight times to hand them their sixth loss in their last seven games.

MOMENTS THAT MATTERED
Two-out RBI man: Lindor, coming off his brief respite on Saturday, launched his seventh home run of the season in the first with two outs. Lindor came back in the second to cap the four-run second with a two-out, two-run single, chasing Huff, a former Indians Draft pick. Lindor finished with three hits, and scored twice.

"I don't like to make comparisons with players," manager Terry Francona said. "Let's just say [Lindor] is a very good player." More >

Out with a Huff: For the second time in three games, an Angels starter did not get through two innings. Huff was rocked early, leaving an 83-mph changeup over the heart of the plate on Lindor's homer. He gave up five runs (two earned) to raise his ERA to 11.81.
"Physically I felt fine, but as a starter, you're supposed to go at least five innings and I didn't do that today," Huff said. "It was pretty disappointing and pretty frustrating."
Wild but effective: Salazar (7-3), pitching on seven days' rest because of shoulder fatigue, allowed one run in 5 2/3 innings, and exited after 102 pitches (62 strikes). He walked four.
"I wasn't hurt, I was a little tired," Salazar said of the added rest. "The last game before this one, I was too aggressive, throwing too hard. The next day I was too sore, so they said it was a good time to give me a break."

Marte Magic: Angels third baseman Jefry Marte has forced his way into the lineup with his bat, and kept the hot streak going on Sunday. He launched his third homer in his last five games, hitting a 85-mph slider from Salazar into the left-field bullpen in the sixth for the Angels' first run.

Santana's first homer of the game was his first as a right-handed batter this season. His second, left-handed, went 410 feet to right field, with a 106-mph exit velocity. They increased Santana's franchise record of home runs by a switch-hitter to 129.

Santana, who had already hit his first home run of the day, took a 3-2 fastball from Cam Bedrosian and took it deep to center for what could have been a two-run homer in the fifth. Trout got a great jump, going up to grab it before it hit near the very top of the wall for the out.

WHAT'S NEXT
Indians: Right-hander Carlos Carrasco (2-1, 3.48 ERA) will start the opener of a three-game series at Kansas City on Monday night at 8:15 p.m. ET. Carrasco has made 17 career appearances (12 starts) against the Royals, and is 6-4 with a 3.68 ERA. He had a five-inning, three-run no-decision against them on June 2, in his first start back from a hamstring injury.
Angels: Right-hander Jered Weaver (5-5, 5.56 ERA), who leads the Angels in quality starts, gets the call in Monday's series opener against the Twins at Angel Stadium at 7:05 p.m. PT. Weaver is 9-2 with a 3.41 ERA in 17 career starts against Minnesota.
