Entered spring as a non-roster invite for the Rays…traded to the Marlins on July 3 and selected to their active roster that same day…designated for assignment Aug. 15 and signed a minors deal with the Rays…was on the Rays active roster for two stints and three days…had a one-day stint on Aug 21 and did not pitch, but re-signed after being designated for assignment…pitched the final two IP of a 12-7 win Sept. 7 at Fenway Park, yielding eight hits, six runs and three HR (Bobby Dalbec, Danny Santana, Bobby Dalbec)…totaled 15 apps in the majors and allowed 10 HR in 20 IP for a 4.50 HR/9 IP ratio, the second-highest in major league history for a pitcher with at least 20 IP behind LAA Andrew Heaney (4.98) in 2017…made 20 apps (2 starts) with Durham spanning multiple stints in the Rays organization.

Made the Orioles Opening Day roster for a second consecutive year and totaled three apps over three stints in the majors…spent the rest of the season at the alternate training site in Bowie.

Made five stints with the big league club (Opening Day Roster-6/17, 7/6-8, 7/13-14, 7/29- 8/8, 9/3-end of season)...Worked 6.1-hitless innings in his season debut on 4/1 at TOR, issuing one walk and striking out a career-high eight batters...

Made his Major League debut on 5/12 vs. TB (G2), tossing 6.0 innings, allowing three runs on six hits, one home run, with three strikeouts while earning the win... His debut marked the first time an Orioles pitcher made their Major League debut with a rookie catcher behind the plate (Chance Sisco) since 8/4/09 when LHP Brian Matusz made his debut on the mound and the starting catcher was rookie Matt Wieters... Became the first Orioles pitcher to start and win his Major League debut since Mike Wright, Jr. did so on 5/17/15 vs. LAA... Had four stints with the Major League club; recalled on 7/25 and stayed with the club for the remainder of the season... Made two relief appearances, posting a 6.00 ERA (2 ER/3.0 IP) in these games...Made his first Major League relief appearance on 7/4 at PHI...His eight Quality Starts ranked tied for seventh among all Major League rookies, and tied for third in the AL...His 74 strikeouts also ranked 13th among AL rookies...Surrendered a home run in 15 of his 21 Major League appearances, allowing a total of 22 home runs; 31 of the 64 runs that he allowed came via the home run (48 percent)...
