Christopher Eugene Mabeus...graduated from Soldotna (AK) HS in 1997...attended Eastern Arizona College and Lewis-Clark State...signed by Gary McGraw...played American Legion ball during high school and was all-state as a first baseman and relief pitcher...was named to the Arizona JC all-star team in 1998 and 1999...was a *Baseball America* pre-season All-America selection at Lewis and Clark State and was named the number four prospect in the NAIA...was a NAIA honorable mention All-America selection in 2000 after going 11-0 with a 3.05 ERA...posted two wins in the NAIA College World Series...is married and has a son.

Was a combined 3-3 with a 2.76 ERA and a career high 15 saves in 50 appearances with Single-A Modesto and Double-A Midland...ranked third in the A's farm system in saves...allowed just two home runs in 62.0 innings...struck out 70 and walked just 15 for a strikeout to walk ratio of 4.7 to 1...allowed a .236 opponents batting average which included a .200 (16 for 80) mark against left-handers and .255 (40 for 157) against right-handers...began the season at Modesto where he went 2-0 with a 1.52 ERA and two saves in 18 relief appearances...did not allow a run in his first seven outings (9.2 ip)...was promoted to Midland on May 28 and was 1-3 with 13 saves and a 3.52 ERA in 32 appearances...tied Bert Snow for the Rockhounds team lead in saves...had an 8.10 ERA (6 er in 6.2 ip) over his first five outings but a 2.56 (9 er in 31.2 ip) mark over his final 27...recorded nine of his 13 saves in 14 outings in August...tossed exactly 1.0 innings in each of his final 20 appearances...pitched for Mesa in the Arizona Fall League and was 0-0 with a 4.50 ERA in 13 appearances.
