Full name is Anthony Allen Lerew...wife is Tara...Graduated from Northern High School in Dillsburg, PA...was a standout quarterback on the football team as well as a star on the baseball team...Participated in 2010 Royals FanFest.
2009
Opened Spring Training on Atlanta's 40-man roster before being sent outright to the minors on March 4...released from the Braves on March 12...signed a minor league contract with the Royals on March 20...Spent the entire minor league season at Northwest Arkansas (AA)...emerged as the staff ace down the stretch...used only 73 pitches in a complete-game shutout versus Springfi eld in the playoffs...Selected to the Major League roster on September 23.
2007
Made his third career appearance on Atlanta's roster this season, making his first three career starts before going on the disabled list on 5/20 due to ulnar neuritis that required season-ending "Tommy John" surgery. He was transferred to the 60-day disabled list on 7/19. Lost his outing on 5/13 at PIT, allowing five earned runs in 3.2 IP in a 13-2 loss. It marked his first career decision. Made his first Major League start on 5/8 vs. San Diego, posting career-highs in innings pitched (6.0) and strikeouts (7). Did not earn the decision in the 3-2 Braves victory. Was recalled on 5/8 from Richmond (AAA), where he was 1-0 with a 1.37 ERA in five starts (4 ER/26.1 IP). Opponents batted just .211 off him and he walked eight while fanning 15. Richmond went 5-0 in Anthony's five starts. At the time of his recall, had allowed just two runs over his last 22.1 IP and none in his last two starts: 4/27 at NOR (7.0 IP) and 5/3 vs. CHA (6.2 IP). Did not walk a batter in either of the last two starts. At Richmond, opponents were just 5-for-42 (.119) with runners on base and 2-for-22 (.091) with runners in scoring position. Appeared in two Grapefruit League games with Atlanta, giving up two runs in three innings of work (6.00 ERA) with a walk and three Ks.

Pitched in one game for the Braves, 16 games at Richmond (AAA) and nine games at Mississippi (AA)...His 106 strikeouts at Richmond/Mississippi ranked sixth in the Braves organization...Was recalled from Richmond (AAA) on 9/22 and made only appearance of the season at PHI that night, allowing five runs on five hits and three walks in 2.0 IP. Was optioned back to Richmond on 9/4...Was the Richmond Opening Day starter vs. BUF (ND in 5-4 W)...Named M-Braves July Pitcher of the Month, going 4-1 with a 0.76 ERA in six starts (3 ER/35.2 IP)...Earned first win with seven inning scoreless effort vs. SWB, 5/1...Had two hits and a steal in that game...Struck out a staff season-high 10 batters on 8/18 vs. TOL and had nine vs. TOL on 5/7 and 8/13...Was called up to Atlanta 5/16, but did not pitch...Returned 5/17 and left the rotation for Chuck James' rehab on 5/19. Returned to the rotation 5/25...Was placed on the disabled list 5/30 with a back strain and activated on 6/13...Sent to Mississippi (AA) on 6/17. Was 4-2, 2.03 in nine games with Mississippi (4-1, 0.76 in six games in July). Returned to Richmond on 8/11.

Named the Braves' fifth-best prospect by Baseball America. ... Began season with Mississippi (AA) and moved to Richmond (AAA) on 6/25. ... Appeared in the MLB All-Star Futures Game, throwing a scoreless inning (1 H, 1 BB, 1 K) for the U.S. team. ... Was recalled from Richmond 9/3 and made ML debut in the 12th inning on 9/4 vs. CIN (0.2 IP, 1 K). ... Rookie made seven appearances for Braves, including career-high 2.0 IP 10/1 at FLA and 9/14 at PHI.
2004
Posted a 3.75 ERA in 27 starts and fanned 125 batters in 144.0 innings at Myrtle Beach (A)...Selected by Baseball Americaas a Top Prospect in the Carolina League...Was named the fifth best prospect in the Braves organization by Baseball America...Selected to the 2004 Carolina League All-Star team...Had a 2.63 ERA at home with hitters batting .206, but on the road he had a 5.10 ERA with hitters batting at a .338 clip...Earned Carolina League Pitcher of the week honors twice: 5/10-16 (2-0, 0.00 ERA and 18 strikeouts) and 6/28-7/4...Went 4-1 with a 2.57 ERA in six May starts...On 6/26 (2) at LYN, he threw six scoreless innings with a season-high 10 strikeouts...Had a five-game winning streak, 5/11-6/2 and a six-game losing streak 7/9 through the end of the season.
