He and his wife, Brittany (married in Jan. 2016), both attended the University of Arizona...Brittany was a standout soccer player who earned Arizona Gatorade Player of the Year honors in high school in 2007 and 2008. At Arizona, was enrolled in the College of Medicine as a pre-physiology major with a minor in business. Graduated from Loyola (CA) High School. His father, Steve, played in the minors for the LAD and CWS organizations...His mother, Lou Ann, played Olympic volleyball and was an All-American at Long Beach State.

Made his 1st career Opening Day roster in his 1st year in the Red Sox organization, but spent a majority of the season with Triple-A Pawtucket...Designated for assignment by CIN on 1/19/17 and claimed by BOS off waivers on 1/25/17. Appeared in 8 games with BOS, going 1-for-9 with a double...Played 2 games at 3B and 1 in CF. Also played in 79 games with the PawSox, making 58 starts in the OF (RF-26, LF-17, CF-15) and 14 at 1B. Hit .276 vs. LHP for Pawtucket (21-for-76, 3 HR). Made his lone start with BOS on 4/9 at DET, a 7-5 win... Started in CF and went 1-for-3 with a double before being replaced by pinch-hitter Brock Holt. Missed a majority of the season due to a pair of DL stints...Batted .317 (57-for-180) with a .386 OBP in 51 games, all with Triple-A Louisville. Had an 11-game hitting streak from 5/2-24. On the DL from 5/6-17 with a right hamstring strain, and again from 6/21 through the remainder of the season with a medial meniscus injury in his left knee.

Named a Southern League mid-season All-Star...Batted .275 (79-for-287) with a .389 OBP between Double-A Pensacola and Triple-A Louisville. Began the season with Pensacola...Promoted to Louisville on 6/18 and spent the remainder of the season with the Bats...Had a .410 OBP at the time of his promotion, 8th-highest in Double-A through 6/17.
2013
Hit .274 (116-for-423) with an .807 OPS between High-A Bakersfield and Double-A Pensacola...Ranked T-2nd among Reds minor leaguers with 80 RBI. Began the season with Pensacola in his Double-A debut, but was transferred to Bakersfield on 5/14...Spent the remainder of the season with the Blaze. Named Red Sox Minor League Player of the Month for June, when he posted a .346/.438/.663 batting line. On the DL from 8/27 through the remainder of the season.

Posted a .317/.377/.515 batting line between Single-A Dayton and High-A Bakersfield... Ranked 2nd among Reds farmhands in AVG and RBI (74) and T-3rd in HR (18). Went 3-for-5 with a HR in his final game with Dayton (6/15 at Lake County) and hit 2 HR in his 1st game with Bakersfield on 6/21 at Rancho Cucamonga. Homered in 10 of 23 games from 7/8-8/2...Hit safely in 45 of his final 52 games (beginning 7/8). Named Reds Minor League Player of the Month for August, when he had a .380/.452/.593 batting line.

Made his pro debut with 28 games at the Rookie level, posting a .311/.413/.585 batting line between the Arizona League Reds and Billings. Hit 6 HR in only 20 games with the AZL Reds...Hit 5 HR in a 6-game span from 8/13-19...Homered in 3 straight games from 8/16-19, recording his 1st multi-HR game on 8/16 at the AZL Cubs.
