Christopher Eugene Mabeus...graduated from Soldotna (AK) HS in 1997...attended Eastern Arizona College and Lewis-Clark State...signed by Gary McGraw...played American Legion ball during high school and was all-state as a first baseman and relief pitcher...was named to the Arizona JC all-star team in 1998 and 1999...was a *Baseball America* pre-season All-America selection at Lewis and Clark State and was named the number four prospect in the NAIA...was a NAIA honorable mention All-America selection in 2000 after going 11-0 with a 3.05 ERA...posted two wins in the NAIA College World Series...is married and has a son.

2005

Spent the entire season at Triple-A Sacramento and was 9-2 with a save and a 4.21 ERA in 42 relief appearances...led the River Cats in wins...struck out 72 batters in 62.0 innings, an average of 10.45 per nine innings...allowed just four home runs or one per 15.5 innings...has yielded just 18 home runs in 344.1 career innings in the minors, an average of one per 19.1 innings...allowed a .256 opponents batting average which included .238 (19 for 80) against left-handed hitters and .266 (42 for 158) against right-handers...yielded a .244 (19 for 78) opponents average with runners in scoring position and opponents were 0 for 8 with the bases loaded...was 7-0 with a 4.96 ERA (18 er in 32.2 ip) in 21 appearances at home and 2-2 with a 3.38 ERA (11 er in 29.1 ip) in 21 outings on the road...allowed 10 of 27 (37.0%) inherited runners to score and was 1 for 6 (16.7%) in save opportunities...tossed at least one inning in 39 of his 42 outings, including two or more 13 times...took the loss in consecutive outings on April 17 at Portland and April 20 at Tacoma but then defeated Tacoma on April 21 and finished the season with an eight-game winning streak...recorded his only save of the season on April 25 against Las Vegas (1.0 ip, 2 so)...went 3-2 with a 6.00 ERA in eight outings in April (9.0 ip, 10 h, 6 r, 6 er, 10 bb, 12 so) before going on the disabled list on May 6 with a muscle strain in his back...was reinstated from the DL on May 20 and posted a 5.68 ERA (6.1 ip, 6 h, 4 r, 4 er, 4 bb, 6 so) over his next five outings before going on the temporary inactive list on June 3 for the birth of his child...was reinstated on June 19 and compiled a 5.14 ERA (12 er in 21.0 ip) over his next 15 outings through July 28...tossed a season high 3.0 innings on June 28 against Portland, his first of four outings of 3.0 innings...had a 5.45 ERA entering play on July 29 but posted a 2.45 ERA (7 er in 25.2 ip) over his final 14 outings...struck out a season high six batters in 2.0 innings on August 19 at Tucson (1 h)...was 1-1 with a 1.59 ERA (5.2 ip, 2 h, 1 r, 1 er, 5 bb, 8 so) in three postseason appearances for Sacramento.

2004

Was selected by Texas in the Rule 5 draft following the 2003 season but was returned to the A's organization on March 25...made two spring training appearances with the Rangers (1.1 ip, 1 h) before his return to the A's organization...combined for an 11-2 record, 15 saves and a 2.69 ERA in 58 relief appearances at Double-A Midland and Triple-A Sacramento...had career highs in wins, games and strikeouts (88) and matched his best in saves...ranked third in the A's organization in saves...averaged 10.75 strikeouts per nine innings (73.2 ip) and had a strikeout to walk ratio of 6.3 to 1 (14 bb)...allowed a .244 opponents batting average which included a .263 (30 for 114) mark against left-handers and .230 (38 for 165) against right-handers...began the year at Midland and went 4-0 with 11 saves and a 1.99 ERA in 20 relief appearances...did not allow a home run and walked just two batters while striking out 27 in 22.2 innings...did not allow a run in eight Double-A appearances on the road (9.1 ip) and held the opposition to a .100 (3 for 30) batting average compared to a 3.38 ERA (5 er in 13.1 ip) and .345 (20 for 58) opponents batting average at home...did not allow a run in his first seven outings (6.2 ip, 4 h, 1 bb, 9 so) from April 9 to 23 and had an eight-game scoreless streak (10.1 ip, 7 h, 11 so) from May 2 to 21...did not walk a batter over a 15-game stretch from April 16 to May 21 (16.2 ip)...posted a 1.93 ERA (3 er in 14.0 ip) with seven saves in 11 outings in May...was promoted to Sacramento on May 27 and went 7-2 with a 3.00 ERA and four saves in 38 relief appearances with the River Cats...struck out 61 and walked just 12 in 51.0 innings...had a 1.71 ERA (5 er in 26.1 ip) and .194 (18 for 93) opponents batting average in 20 outings at Sacramento's Raley Field and a 4.38 ERA (12 er in 24.2 ip) and .276 (27 for 98) opponents batting average in 18 outings on the road...allowed three runs in his first four outings (3 er in 4.0 ip, 6.75 ERA) but followed that up with an 11-game scoreless streak from June 5 through July 2 (16.1 ip, 4 h, 4 bb, 20 so)...allowed a .078 (4 for 51) opponents batting average over that stretch...posted a 3.31 ERA (6 er in 16.1 ip) in July and a 4.50 ERA (7 er in 14.0 ip) in August...struck out a season high six batters in 3.0 innings and picked up the win on August 13 against Las Vegas...tossed a season high 3.1 innings in his final regular season outing on September 3 at Portland...then had a win, a save and a 2.57 ERA (7.0 ip, 4 h, 2 r, 2 er, 4 bb, 12 so) in five postseason appearances for Sacramento.

2003

Was a combined 3-3 with a 2.76 ERA and a career high 15 saves in 50 appearances with Single-A Modesto and Double-A Midland...ranked third in the A's farm system in saves...allowed just two home runs in 62.0 innings...struck out 70 and walked just 15 for a strikeout to walk ratio of 4.7 to 1...allowed a .236 opponents batting average which included a .200 (16 for 80) mark against left-handers and .255 (40 for 157) against right-handers...began the season at Modesto where he went 2-0 with a 1.52 ERA and two saves in 18 relief appearances...did not allow a run in his first seven outings (9.2 ip)...was promoted to Midland on May 28 and was 1-3 with 13 saves and a 3.52 ERA in 32 appearances...tied Bert Snow for the Rockhounds team lead in saves...had an 8.10 ERA (6 er in 6.2 ip) over his first five outings but a 2.56 (9 er in 31.2 ip) mark over his final 27...recorded nine of his 13 saves in 14 outings in August...tossed exactly 1.0 innings in each of his final 20 appearances...pitched for Mesa in the Arizona Fall League and was 0-0 with a 4.50 ERA in 13 appearances.

2002

Spent the entire season at Single-A Modesto where he was 3-1 with a 4.04 ERA and one save in 37 appearances, including one start...yielded just three home runs in 84.2 innings, an average of one per 28.2 innings...allowed a .290 opponents batting average which included .283 (28 for 99) against left handed pitchers and .292 (69 for 236) against right-handers...opponents average dropped to .205 with runners in scoring position and two outs...had a loss and a 2.70 ERA (3.1 ip, 3 h, 1 r, 1 er, 1 bb) in two postseason appearances.

2001

Made his professional debut with Vancouver of the short season Single-A Northwest League and was 2-5 with a 4.50 ERA and two saves in 20 games, eight starts...allowed just three home runs in 62.0 innings...opponents hit .300...was 1-3 with a 6.14 ERA in his eight starting assignments and 1-2 with a 2.13 ERA in 12 relief appearances...did not allow a run and had a win and both of his saves in his first six pro appearances (13.0 ip).
