Was born in Creswell, Oregon and graduated in1995 from Soquel (Calif.) High School where he was captain of the baseball team and was named All-County...he also lettered in basketball...attended Gonzaga University, where he earned All-West Coast Conference honors as a shortstop...was named to Honorable Mention list for Louisville Slugger Freshman All-American Team in 1988...he was scouted and signed by Dane Walker...makes his off-season home in Phoenix, Ariz...took part in a multitude of Community Relations events in 2003, including the "Say No to Drugs" program and fundraising telethon for Children's Hospital.
2004
Was everyday second baseman for Memphis (AAA), batting .297 with a career-high 25 doubles and 81 runs scored.
Began the season at Memphis, then was recalled by the Cardinals on 4/11, appearing in 11 games (3 starts) before returning to Memphis on 5/1 for the remainder of the season.
Batted .302 in June, .291 in July and .342 in August, raising his BA 42 points from 6/1 (.255) to season-ending .297.
Appeared in 97 games at 2B and 21 games at SS for Memphis. His final 17 games played were all at shortstop.
Had a season-best 11-game hitting streak 7/6-19 that included seven multi-hit games. Had multiple hits in five-straight games 8/26-30, batting .423 (11-26).
Went 5-for-5 with three doubles on 8/22 vs. Omaha. His longest hitless streak at Memphis was just three games.
2003
Spent entire season with Double-A New Haven...Set career marks with 101 hits and 39 RBI...His .249 average was his lowest since hitting .184 at New Jersey (New York-Penn League)...Posted four-game hitting streak from 5/9 to 5/14, and after going hitless in second game of doubleheader 5/14, reeled off 11-game streak ending 5/26...Batted .362 (25-for-69) during that 16-game stretch, raising his overall average from .255 to .305...Batted .298 through the month of May, but hit just .214 the remainder of the season...Did not commit an error in 33 consecutive games 6/25-8/28...Registered 10 three-hit games among 27 multi-hit games on the year...Fractured bone in his thumb after he was hit by a pitch from Harrisburg reliever Anthony Ferrari 7/15...Out of action until 8/10...Was hit-by-pitch 12 times (52 in four seasons).
