David saw his first major league action in 2003 after being added to the Cubs' 40-man major league roster in November 2001...he has spent his seven-season professional career in the Cubs' organization - and has earned all-star honors five times (Arizona League 1998; Midwest League 1999; Southern League 2001-2002; Triple-A All-Star Game 2003)...was a participant in the 2003 Major League All-Star Futures Game at U.S. Cellular Field...has 104 homers and 440 RBI in 735 minor league contests...is a 1998 graduate of Troup County High School in La Grange, GA - where he lettered in baseball, basketball and football...was selected as the baseball team's MVP after his senior season.
2004
David spent the majority of the season at Iowa (AAA) where he batted .245 with 19 homers and 68 RBI...also saw action in 8 games for the Cubs...was on the major league roster May 28 to June 10, appearing in 8 games - went 1-for-10 with a double...collected his only major league hit of the season on May 28 at Pittsburgh, a double off Oliver Perez...had a pair had 26 multi-hit games for the I-Cubs, including a 4-hit affair on May 24 at Tacoma...had a pair of 5-RBI contests, as he went 2-for-4 with a homer and 5 RBI April 30 at Albuquerque...also drove in 5 runs May 22 at Portland...had a season-high 9-game hitting streak April 29-May 8 as he went 12-for-37 (.324) with 8 runs scored, 3 homers and 8 RBI...appeared in 88 games in right field, 17 games in left field and 1 game at first base...committed just 3 errors on the year.
2003
David had three stints with the Cubs (June 8-June 14, August 15-August 17 and September 1 through the end of the season), going 2-for-12 with 1 RBI in 10 games.

David was a postseason Southern League all-star at West Tenn (AA), batting .261 in 129 games with a league-high 79 RBI and 20 homers -- which tied for the league lead ... also led the league in extra-base hits (54) en route to being named to the Topps Class AA all-star team... earned Topps Southern League Player of the Month honors for June after hitting .333 (35-105) with 8 homers and 26 RBI ... during the month, he had a season-high 10-game hitting streak June 8-June 17 (15-42, .357)... saw his first professional action at first base, appearing in 121 games at that position ... also saw action in 6 games at third base and 1 game in leftfield... after the season, he was rated the league's 13th-best prospect by Baseball America.
2001
David played in 58 games for West Tenn (AA) and batted .313 with 12 homers and 45 RBI ... missed more than half the season due to a strained left wrist... before being place on the disabled list June 16, he had been selected to participate in the midseason Double-A and Southern League all-star games...in his final 8 games leading up to the season-ending injury, he had gone 13-for-27 (.481) with 2 homers and 10 RBI...had four 3-hit games, including a 3-for-4 performance May 2 at Tennessee in which he homered twice and drove in 4 runs.
solely saw action at third base, committing 15 errors in 128 total chances...despite not playing after June 9, he was chosen as the league's 12th-best prospect after the season by Baseball America... returned to the baseball field in the fall, playing for the Mesa Solar Sox in the Arizona Fall League ... batted .340 in 31 games with 16 RBI.

David spent the campaign at Daytona (A) -- the Florida State League champions -- and hit .268 in a career-high 132 games with 30 doubles, 18 homers and 84 RBI... his RBI total ranked 4th in the Cubs' minor league system ... led the club in homers and doubles... ranked 4th in the league in extra-base hits (55), total bases (238) and at-bats (523)... hit .364 during postseason play (5 games) with 2 homers and 8 RBI.

Was a Midwest League midseason all-star at Lansing (A), where he hit .269 in 124 games with 13 homers, 68 RBI and 22 steals... was an honorable mention selection to the Howe Sportsdata all-teen team.
