With the Yankees was 0-1, 9.00 in 4G/2GS...Recalled on 6/23 from Triple A Columbus after Jake Westbrook was optioned back to Columbus...was 3-0 with a 3..52 ERA in 17G/2GS at Columbus...Made his Major League debut and first start at Chicago on 6/23...recorded the no decision in a 5-4 loss...Recorded his first Major League loss in his second start, 13-6 on 6/28 vs. Detroit...Optioned back to Columbus on 7/8 after Dwight Gooden's contract was purchased from Columbus...Was 3-0, 3.07 at columbus in 20 games...Traded on 7/21 to Chicago (Cubs) for Glenallen Hill along with Ozwaldo Mairena.

Spent the entire season at Triple-A Columbus...in his second stint in the Yankee organization, was 6-3 with a 4.73 ERA and three saves in a team-leading 53 appearances...enjoyed a 12- game scoreless streak from 4/14-5/17 (a span of 14.1 IP)...played in the Dominican Winter League for Licey and was 0-0 with a 3.75 ERA (12.0 IP, 5 ER) in nine relief appearances.
1998
Was selected by Arizona in the first round of the expansion draft on 11/18/97...began the season with Triple-A Tucson and was 2-5 with a 4.35 ERA and 13 saves in 48 appearances...his 13 saves led Tucson and tied him for most saves among all Diamondback minor-leaguers...was recalled to the Majors on 8/20, between games of a doubleheader in Philadelphia and made his Major-League debut in Game 2, allowing 4 ER in 1.2 IP...was optioned back to Tucson on 8/21, but on 8/22 was recalled again without ever leaving the Major-League team when Bobby Chouinard was placed on the disabled list...recorded his first Major-League strikeout on 9/16 vs. San Francisco (Stan Javier)...was 0-0 with a 9.90 ERA 10.0 IP, 12 ER) in eight games with Arizona.
1997
Started the season at Class-A Tampa and went 4-0 with a 1.93 ERA and 18 saves in 32 games...was scored upon in only six of his 32 outings...permitted only one home run in 37.1 IP...blanked the opposition in his final nine outings for Tampa, a span of 10.1 IP...was promoted to Double-A Norwich in mid-June...gave up 2 ER in his first game with the Navigators, but did not allow a run in his next six appearances...recorded his first Double-A save in the next-to-last outing on 8/26 at Trenton...played in the Arizona Fall League following the season, going 1-3 with a 6.33 ERA in 19 games.
