**COACHING CAREER** 2012 marks 1st season as the Red Sox third base coach and 1st season overall in the Boston organization ... Managed the Lotte Giants of Korea Professional Baseball from 2008-10...Was the league's 1st foreign manager... Led the Giants to a 204-185 (.524) overall record and a playoff berth in each of his 3 seasons at the helm ... Previously held Major League coaching positions with Milwaukee and Colorado...Was Davey Lopes' bench coach with the Brewers and coordinated the club's Spring Training camp from the beginning of the 2000 campaign until taking over as Milwaukee's interim manager on 4/18/02...Named the club's full-time manager for the remainder of the 2002 season on 4/30...Served as third base coach for the Rockies in their inaugural 1993 campaign ... Spent 10 seasons as a minor league manager in the Dodgers and Padres systems, compiling a 608-650 (.483) career record...Was at the helm of Los Angeles' Triple-A Las Vegas affiliate in 2005-06...Also managed in the Dodgers organization from 1989-92 with Rookie-level Kissimmee (1989), Short-A Yakima (1990), High-A Vero Beach (1991) and Double-A San Antonio (1992)...Won a Northern Division championship with the GCL Dodgers in 1989 and 1st-half division title and playoff berth with Vero Beach in 1991...Managed Double-A Memphis (1995) and Triple-A Las Vegas (1996-98) in the San Diego minor league system...Earned the Padres Manager of the Year award in 1996 after guiding the Triple-A Las Vegas Stars to the Pacific Coast League's 2nd-half title ... Was a coach with Seattle's Double-A Jacksonville club in 1994...After 1992 season, managed Sun Cities Solar Sox to an Arizona Fall League title in the league's 1st year...Also held the positions of minor league baserunning and infield coordinator with the Expos in 1999 and minor league infield coordinator with the Dodgers in 2003-04. **PLAYING CAREER** Signed with Dodgers as an amateur free agent in 1970 ... Was in LA organization with Bobby Valentine in 1971-72 ... Played 16 seasons in the Majors with Dodgers (1973-75), Braves (1976-84, 1988), Padres (1985-86), White Sox (1987) and Yankees (1987)...Primarily a 2nd and 3rd baseman, also saw action at shortstop and in the outfield ... Saw only postseason action with the Braves in the 1982 NLCS...Best Big League season came in 1979 when he hit .273 and set career highs with 25 doubles, 51 RBI, 62 walks, 103 runs and 35 stolen bases for Atlanta. **PERSONAL** Has 2 daughters, Kara and Kristie ... Attended Healds Business College in Sacramento, CA...Graduated from Sacramento (CA) High School where he lettered in baseball, basketball, football and track.
