The Pad Squad started as a brand ambassador team to entertain and interact with fans in the ballpark. Since its inception, Pad Squad has evolved into one of the most recognizable ambassador teams in Major League Baseball and an integral part of the Petco Park experience. Beyond the ballpark, Pad Squad participates in hundreds of local community events each year including many Padres community events in support of the Padres Foundation, local festivals and community events.
Pad Squad
Pad Squad members are fun, energetic and intrinsically proud to represent the Friar Faithful. As an avid and active ambassador of the Padres organization, Pad Squad members are expected to have an understanding and appreciation for the history and culture of the communities that comprise San Diego and the Baja Region. Active volunteerism and community involvement are a plus. Pad Squad members are often involved in entertainment and public relations activations so stage experience and public speaking skills are beneficial. Our work goes beyond the baseball season so our commitment to the Padres and our community runs all year long with involvement in off-season events and appearances.
Pad Squad recruitment usually begins in September. The Padres host an annual audition during the offseason where new candidates are given the opportunity to showcase their skills to become a Pad Squad member. The audition format assesses a candidate's knowledge of Padres baseball & community efforts, public speaking skills and on-camera presence. Once new candidates are selected through the audition process, continuous job training sessions are scheduled throughout the offseason and extend into the season to familiarize our team on new ballpark features and organizational initiatives.
