Mariners activate Michael Saunders from disabled list
Outfielder has been out since July 10
Seattle Mariners Executive Vice President & General Manager of Baseball Operations Jack Zduriencik announced the following roster move today:
- Michael Saunders , OF, activated from 15-day disabled list
Saunders will be in uniform and available for tonight's 7:10 pm (PT) game vs. the Houston Astros.
Saunders left the Mariners game on July 10 in the 8th inning with a strained left oblique muscle. He was placed on the 15-day disabled list on July 11.
Saunders was sent to AAA Tacoma on a rehabilitation assignment on Aug. 7, and hit .257 (9x35) with 14 walks in 10 games with the Rainiers. Following the game on Aug. 19, missed three games and was then recalled from his rehab assignment on Aug. 22 after being diagnosed with a viral infection.
He was working out at the Mariners minor league facility in Peoria, Arizona, prior to being activated today.
