Last week, Citizens Bank Park was home to a Hollywood ending.
Before that night’s game against the Arizona Diamondbacks, the Phillies held a ceremony to honor the retirement of 2008 World Series MVP Cole Hamels, who helped define one of the most successful eras in franchise history.
Many of Hamels’ former Phillies coaches and teammates were in attendance, including manager Charlie Manuel, Catcher Carlos Ruiz and pitchers Joe Blanton, Tom “Flash” Gordon, Jamie Moyer and Roy Oswalt.
Phillies Managing Partner and Chief Executive Officer John Middleton and Hall of Famer Mike Schmidt gave a special presentation before a video tribute celebrating Hamels’ career on PhanaVision.
Hamels was also gifted the pitching rubber and lineup card from his no-hitter against the Chicago Cubs in 2015 by Aaron Nola and Kyle Schwarber.
