What is Pitch, Hit & Run?
Pitch, Hit & Run (PHR) is an MLB-sponsored event across the nation. Each child will have a pitching, hitting and running portion of the event.
Pitching: In this section, you throw six pitches at a target. Points are awarded for hitting any part of the target. The point value is the same no matter what part of the target you hit.
Hitting: You get three swings off a tee, with the furthest hit measured. Points are awarded for distance and how straight you can hit the ball. The measurement starts when the ball first touches the ground.
Running: The final section of the competition is a timed run from second base to home plate with the distance between each base is 60 feet (120 feet in total). The faster the time, the higher the score.
Scoring/Winner: The winner of the Pitch, Hit & Run competition will be determined by whoever has the highest score after all three events.
