December 20th, 2024

The Marlins signed infielder to a one-year Major League contract for 2025 on Friday. The 27-year-old will be entering his first full season in the big leagues after making his debut with the Angels on Sept. 10, 2024.

Wagaman played in 18 games for the Angels, including 17 at third base. He slashed .250/.270/.403 with five doubles, two home runs and 10 RBIs.

Wagaman quickly advanced in 2024. He began the season in Double-A Rocket City, where he batted .260 in 94 games and earned a promotion to Triple-A Salt Lake in August. For the Bees, he hit .320 with an .855 OPS, five doubles, two triples, three homers and 14 RBIs before getting the call to the Majors after 27 games.

The California native, who played at Orange Coast College in Costa Mesa, began his pro career as a 13th-round Draft pick by the Yankees in 2017. The Angels took him from the Yankees with the sixth overall pick in the Minor League phase of the 2023 Rule 5 Draft.

In a corresponding move, Miami designated infielder for assignment to clear space on the 40-man roster. Bruján slashed .222/.303/.319 last season and set several career highs -- games (102), runs (32), hits (55), doubles (14) and triples (two).
