March 5th, 2024

SEATTLE, Wash. – With Opening Day presented by Starbucks just three weeks away, the Seattle Mariners today announced some of the pregame festivities taking place ahead of the 7:10 game against the Boston Red Sox on Thursday, March 28 at T-Mobile Park. The pregame pageantry will begin in grand fashion with over 50 boys and girls from area Little Leagues coming together to say, “play ball,” legendary Mariners Ichiro Suzuki and Nelson Cruz will be on hand, and the club will host its traditional ceremonial run around the bases by a Make-A-Wish® child. All fans attending Opening Day will receive a 2024 season magnetic schedule presented by Starbucks.

Mariners legend and seven-time All-Star Nelson Cruz returns to the Emerald City to throw the Ceremonial First Pitch. Cruz averaged more than 40 homers and 100 RBI a season during his four years (2015-2018) in Seattle, earning accolades on and off the field.

Mariners Hall of Famer Ichiro Suzuki will present Julio Rodríguez with his second Silver Slugger Award. Ichiro was Rookie of the Year, Most Valuable Player and a multi-time Gold Glove and Silver Slugger winner in his 13 seasons (2001-2012, 2018-2019) with the Mariners.

“We can’t wait to welcome back our incredible fans to T-Mobile Park in just a few short weeks, said Catie Griggs, Mariners President of Business Operations. “The magic of Opening Day is palpable, and it will be the start of what we hope will be an unforgettable season.”
