ARLINGTON -- Felix Hernandez appears to be running out of answers and he may be running out of time as a Mariners starter after giving up a career-high 11 runs in six innings on Tuesday as Texas rolled to an 11-4 win at Globe Life Park.
Four of Hernandez's runs were unearned, thanks to a pair of Kyle Seager errors, but the damage was significant as the 14-year veteran allowed eight hits -- including a trio of home runs -- along with four walks and a hit batter in a 90-pitch performance.
"What can I say?" a terse Hernandez said afterward. "I can't say anything. I was trying to put zeros up on the board, but I couldn't do it today. I'm frustrated."
The six-time American League All-Star fell to 8-10 with a 5.73 ERA and the Mariners must decide now if they'll keep sticking with him heading into his next scheduled start on Sunday in Houston.

Erasmo Ramirez has made four Minor League rehab starts and is expected to be ready to come off the 10-day disabled list at any time after being sidelined since early May with a strained shoulder.
"We'll see. We have to take a look at where we're at going forward here," manager Scott Servais said. "The next time that spot comes around we'll be over in Houston and they also have a good club. We have to give ourselves a chance to win every time out there.
"I like the signs from our offense. Guys are coming around, which is really a good sign. It's been slow here for a long time and our pitching has carried us all year long. But having a chance to stay in the game and have a chance every time out is so key here as we move down the stretch in the last six to seven weeks of the season."

The loss snapped a two-game win streak for Seattle, but the Mariners have lost 17 of their last 26 games to drop to 2 1/2 games back of the A's for the second AL Wild Card spot at 65-49, with Oakland still playing the Dodgers on Tuesday night.
Hernandez zipped through two perfect innings and had a 3-0 lead after back-to-back homers by Nelson Cruz and Seager in the second and a pair of third-inning triples by Dee Gordon and Denard Span.

But Texas scored four times in the bottom of the third on four hits and a walk by Hernandez, then pulled away with a three-run homer by Jurickson Profar in the fifth following Seager's second error of the game.
Servais stuck with Hernandez in the sixth, and Hernandez gave up two more home runs -- to Rougned Odor and Adrian Beltre -- before being replaced in the seventh by Chasen Bradford.
"I lost my command after the first two innings," Hernandez said. "I was just leaving it in the middle of the plate, making a lot of mistakes. You see the results."
Hernandez was making the 398th start of his career and his previous high for runs allowed was 10, done twice, the last coming in 2015 against the Red Sox.
Bartolo Colon (6-10, 5.18 ERA) went seven innings and earned the win for Texas. The 45-year-old right-hander has won five of seven games he's started against Hernandez in his career and moved past Dennis Martinez for the most wins by a Latin American pitcher in MLB history at 246.

MOMENTS THAT MATTERED
Seager was kicking himself for the two errors that cost Hernandez both extra outs and four unearned runs. His fifth-inning misplay on a hard shot by Beltre that skipped past his glove set the stage for Profar's three-run blast in the fifth, which turned the tide.

"There's not too many things that upset me more than errors," Seager said. "That's not good. That can't happen. Those were plays that absolutely should be made. Felix is out there battling for us and made some good pitches to get ground balls that should have [gotten us] out of those innings. You always want to catch everything, but when your guy is out there really battling and working hard for you, _you've got to back him up, and I didn't do that tonight."

Cruz became just the third Mariner to hit 30-plus homers in four or more seasons. The big slugger has hit 30-plus in five straight seasons, the last four with Seattle. Ken Griffey Jr. is the only other Mariner to homer 30 or more times in four consecutive seasons. Griffey had 30-plus in six seasons with Seattle, including four straight. Alex Rodriguez also had four seasons with 30-plus homers, but not in a row.

The damage could have been worse for Hernandez in the three-run sixth if not for an outstanding catch by Cameron Maybin, who bounced off the center-field wall while hanging on to a deep shot by Elvis Andrus. Statcast™ projected the drive at 407 feet with a 91 percent hit probability.
