The FTX MLB Home Run Derby X team rosters are about to become absolutely star-studded. At the London event, each club played with a Rookie – a highly regarded prospect from Great Britain’s National Team. That will change for the event in Seoul. Those players will now be replaced by Heroes – some of the greatest Korean baseball stars to ever play the game.

Let’s break down the players below:

Seung Yuop Lee - Cubs

If you want home runs, Lee’s your man. The Samsung Lions legend became the youngest professional baseball player in the world to hit 300 home runs when he passed that mark at just 26 years old. His trophy case is overflowing, too: Lee won the KBO League MVP Award five times and was a Korean Series Champion four times – taking the Series MVP Award in 2012.

He also holds the KBO career records for home runs, runs scored, RBIs, total bases, slugging percentage, and OPS. He finished his career with 626 home runs between the KBO and NPB and has recorded more hits than any other player born in South Korea.

Lee also won a gold medal with Korea at the 2008 Summer Olympics and was named to the All-World Baseball Classic team at the 2006 tournament when South Korea finished third after losing to Japan in the semi-finals.

Tae Kyun Kim - Yankees

Kim started his career by winning the Rookie of the Year Award and only got better from there. One of the best pure hitters in the game, Kim became the youngest player in KBO history -- and just the fourth overall -- to reach 3,500 total bases. A superstar for the Hanwha Eagles, Kim posted a career .320 batting average, bashed out 311 career home runs, and was named to the All-World Baseball Classic Team in 2009 after leading the tournament in RBIs.

He not only has power, but the first baseman won three Golden Glove Awards, as well -- something that should come in handy at HRDX as defense plays a crucial point-scoring role.

Yong Taik Park – Red Sox

A KBO Legend, Park set the record for the most hits in KBO history with 2,504, breaking Yang Joon-hyuk's record of 2,318. Playing his entire career with the LG Twins, Park displayed amazing bat-to-ball skills as he hit 213 career home runs and posted a .308 average -- skills that may come in handy when trying to smash target hits on the HRDX field.

Park is also known for his slick defense, collecting four Golden Glove Awards during his career, so should provide an immediate boost to his Red Sox teammates.

Keun Woo Jeong - Dodgers

From the way his career started, you never would have expected Jeong to end up here. Drafted in the second round by the SK Wyverns, Jeong hit just .193 with a .216 slugging percentage in 52 games during his rookie season. He exploded from there, though, and Jeong finished his KBO career leading all second basemen in career WAR, RBIs, runs, and hits.

A true five-tool player, Jeong hit 121 career home runs, stole 371 bases -- topping 40 in three separate seasons -- won three Golden Glove Awards, two Korean Series titles, and finished with a .302 batting average.

이번 MLB 홈런더비X 팀들은 스타들로 가득 구성될 것입니다. 런던에서 열린 홈런더비X 에서 각 팀은 영국 국가대표팀의 유망주들인 ‘루키’ 선수들과 함께 팀을 이루어 경기를 진행했습니다. 이번 서울 행사에서 루키 선수들은 한국 야구 역사에 한 획을 그은 야구 히어로들로 대체가 될 것입니다. 이제 이 선수들에 대해 알아보겠습니다!

이승엽 – 시카고 컵스

홈런 하면 이승엽이죠. 삼성 라이온즈의 전설인 이승엽은 불과 26세에 세계 최연소 300홈런을 친 프로야구 선수가 되었습니다. 이승엽은 KBO 리그 MVP를 5번이나 수상했고, 한국 시리즈 우승은 4번에 달하며 2012년에는 한국 시리즈 MVP 상을 받았습니다. 그는 또한 홈런, 득점, 타점, 누타수, 장타율, 그리고 OPS에 대한 KBO 기록을 보유하고 있습니다. 그는 KBO와 NPB 리그에서 총 626개의 홈런을 치고 선수 생활을 마쳤고, 그 어떠한 한국 선수보다 더 많은 안타를 기록했습니다. 이승엽은 또한 2008년 하계 올림픽에서 한국 대표팀을 이끌며 금메달을 땄고, 2006 WBC에서 3위를 했을 때도 대표팀에 이름을 올렸습니다.

김태균 – 뉴욕 양키스

또 한 명의 KBO 레전드 박용택은, 양준혁의 2,318개의 기록을 깨고, 2,504개의 안타로 KBO 역사상 최다 안타 기록을 세웠습니다. LG 트윈스의 원클럽맨인 그는 213개의 홈런과 3할 8리의 커리어 평균 타율을 기록하면서 놀라운 배트 투 볼 기술을 보여주었습니다. 이것은 홈런더비X 에서 타겟 히트를 칠때 아주 유용한 능력입니다. 그는 또한 4번의 골든 글러브상을 수상하며 매끄러운 수비로 유명했는데, 이것은 그의 레드삭스팀 동료들에게 굉장한 도움이 될 것입니다.

정근우 – LA 다저스
