As baseball players endure the rigors of a long season year after year, injuries are unavoidable. Some are minor and don't require players to miss more than a few days or a couple weeks, while others may cost players months or even entire seasons.
Certain injuries are directly related to the act of throwing a ball and, thus, are more common in baseball than any other sport. Ailments stemming from other typical baseball activities -- such as running, swinging a bat or sliding -- are also pervasive.
