Guerrero led the Angels in home runs (33), RBIs (116) and batting average (.329), among other categories. He now has hit .300 or better in all 10 of his full seasons in the Major Leagues. Guerrero was named the Gene Autry Trophy recipient for 2006 as Angels MVP as voted by teammates. The right fielder recorded 200 hits for the fourth time in his career and became the only Angel to reach the barrier in two separate seasons (2004 as well). Guerrero's eight seasons of at least a .300 average, 30 home runs and 100 RBIs are the most among active players outside of Barry Bonds and Manny Ramirez (nine each). He was elected to start in the All-Star Game for the fourth time in his career and made his seventh appearance. Guerrero hit a solo home run off Brad Penny in the second inning of the game, the fourth Angels player to homer in the Mid-Summer Classic. He made 11 errors in the field in 2006, his most in five seasons and the most among American League outfielders. Guerrero batted an American League-best .401 against left-handed pitchers. He posted a 20-game hitting streak from Aug. 13 to Sept. 3. He reached 1,000 RBIs in his career with a run-scoring single against the Devil Rays on July 15 in his 1,389th game, becoming the seventh-fastest active player to reach the milestone. Guerrero recorded the first inside-the-park home run of his career on May 26 against the Orioles.
