Miguel Ángel Yajure (pronounced “yuh-HOO-ray”)...Signed by the Yankees out of Venezuela in 2015 on the strength of two innings at a tryout...Enjoyed watching Miguel Cabrera, Greg Maddux and Jose Hernandez play baseball while growing up in Venezuela...Also played soccer as a youth.

2020

Made his Major League debut with the Yankees on 8/31 vs. Tampa Bay, closing out the game with 3.0 scoreless innings...Struck out Willy Adames (swinging) to end the eighth for his first career strikeout…Had made just two appearances above Single-A in his career (two starts with Double-A Trenton in 2019) prior to his debut... Gave up one run in 2.0ip on 9/5 at Baltimore...Made final appearance on 9/26 vs. Miami and pitched 2.0 scoreless innings...Was ranked by Baseball America as the Yankees’ No. 7 prospect following the season.

2019

Led all of minor league baseball in ERA (min. 125.0IP), going 9-6 with a 2.14 ERA (138.2IP, 119H, 48R/33ER, 30BB, 133K, 5HR) in 24 games (20 starts) between Single-A Tampa and Double-A Trenton…his 133 strikeouts ranked second among Yankees minor leaguers, while his nine wins were tied for third and his 138.2IP ranked fifth...Spent the majority of the season with Tampa, going 8-6 with a 2.26 ERA (127.2IP, 32ER) in 22 games (18 starts)..ranked among Florida State League pitchers in strikeouts (tied for second, 122), WHIP (second, 1.08) and average against (fourth, .233)…set career-highs with 10 strikeouts in two starts, 6/7 vs. Florida (6.0IP, 2H, 0R, 2BB) and 7/30 vs. Lakeland (7.0IP, 5H, 1R/0ER, 0BB)…was named a Florida State League Postseason All-Star...Earned a promotion to Trenton on 8/25, going 1-0 with a 0.82 ERA (11.0IP, 9H, 1ER, 2BB, 11K, 0HR) in two starts...Following the season, was named by Baseball America as having the "best control" among Yankees farmhands...Was added to the Yankees' 40-man roster on 11/20/19.

Spent the season with the GCL Yankees East, going 1-2 with a 2.87 ERA (31.1IP, 24H, 10ER, 5BB, 21K) in nine games (six starts)...Held opposing batters to a .211 average (24-for-114), with right-handers batting just .163 (13-for-80) against him.

2015

Made his professional debut with the DSL Yankees 2, posting an 0-2 record and 1.42 ERA (57.0IP, 54H, 20R/9ER, 20BB, 36K, 1HR) in 14 starts..had the sixth-lowest ERA among Dominican Summer League pitchers who threw at least 50.0IP...Recorded a 0.82 ERA (33.0IP, 27H, 9R/3ER, 9BB, 22K) over his final eight starts from 7/7-8/18, allowing one earned run or fewer in each of those starts.
