Johan Alexander Santana graduated from Liceo Jose Nucete Sardi (VZ) High School, where he played baseball and soccer...Was named Tovar Merida's Athlete of the Year in 1999...Created the Johan Santana Foundation which supports youth baseball and other children's charities in his native Venezuela...Arranged to have a fire truck delivered to his hometown of Tovar Merida, VZ...Held the Johan Santana Celebrity Bowl-A-Thon in the summer of 2007 to benefit the NYU Myeloma Center and the Johan Santana Foundation...Is Major League Baseball's Spokesman for the "Play it Smart When it Comes to the Sun" program, which raises awareness of skin cancer...Santana was involved in the program as a tribute to the late Lynne Greenberg, the wife of one of his agents, Ed Greenberg...Introduced "Santana's Select" during the 2008 season, with the help of Charity Wines, with all proceeds benefitting the Johan Santana Foundation...Sponsored his Seventh Annual Holiday Party in his hometown of Tovar, Venezuela in December, 2012...Ran a soccer and baseball tournament and handed out over 8,000 gifts to children...Held the Johan Santana All-Star Bowling Classic on June 21, 2010 in Manhattan to benefit the Johan Santana Foundation...Won the Big B.A.T./Frank Slocum Award in January, 2013 for his contributions to the Baseball Assistance Team...Helping build a baseball and soccer sports complex in his hometown of Tovar.
