In his full rookie season, made 97 starts in right field and batted .288 in 121 games...slugged first Major League round-tripper on May 14 at Milwaukee off Cal Eldred...tied Blue Jay single-game record for putouts by an outfielder with nine on July 18 at Minnesota...ended an 0-for-9 pinchhitting streak with his first career pinch-homer on Aug. 19...legged out three doubles on Sept. 21 to give him 31, the most ever by a Blue Jays rookie...hit in 14 consecutive games from Aug. 29-Sept. 12 (20-for-51, .392), tying a Blue Jays rookie record set by Alfredo Griffin in 1979...his nine outfield assists tied him with Joe Carter for the club lead and sixth in the AL...his 50 extra-base hits set a Blue Jays rookie record..led the club with a .509 slugging percentage, the highest mark by a Blue Jays rookie.

Enjoyed his second taste of Major League action after winning Triple-A Syracuse Most Valuable Player honors as he captured the International League batting title with a .344 mark...also ranked third in the IL in runs scored (82), hits (149) and on-base percentage (.401) and fourth in slugging percentage (.510)...ranked first among outfielders with a .996 fielding percentage...was the Blue Jays' Minor League Player of the Month in May after batting .350 with four homers and 16 RBI...called up to Toronto on June 10 and hit just .091 in 14 games...collected his first big league hit on June 13 at Cleveland off Mark Clark...was optioned back to Syracuse on July 9...participated in the International League All-Star Game and was named to the Baseball America Triple-A All-Star team...voted the International League's best batting prospect, best outfield arm and most exciting player in Baseball America's "Tools of the Trade" poll of league managers.

In just his second pro season, made the jump to Double-A Knoxville where he played in just 99 games due to a broken right thumb suffered in early June...recovered from the injury and was called up to Toronto for the first time in his career on Sept. 24, going hitless in six at-bats in three games...averaged better than a hit per game at Knoxville (102 hits, 99 games)...named by Baseball America as one of the Southern League's Top 10 outfield prospects.
1992
In his first pro season, broke in with Single-A Dunedin and was selected to the Florida State League All- Star team...compiled an 18-game hitting streak from April 28-May 13...fractured his left thumb on June 24 while sliding into second base.
