DENVER -- Player Page for Max Muncy is tied with Matt Kemp and Yasmani Grandal for the Dodgers' home run lead after slugging a pair on Sunday. And if you had told him in Spring Training that would be the case in early June?
"You're lying," Muncy said, after his eighth and ninth home runs of the season helped the Dodgers rally to beat the Rockies, 10-7, and sweep the three-game series. "That's what I would have said."
Muncy -- a non-roster invitee to Spring Training who began the season at Triple-A -- started at first base in place of the slumping Cody Bellinger after missing Saturday's game with flu-like symptoms.
While batting only .243, he has an .880 OPS and, in 38 games, has driven in 23 runs, three fewer than Chris Taylor and two fewer than Bellinger.
"Every time [he's] in the box, it feels like he's going to get a hit," said manager Dave Roberts. "The energy he brings in the middle of the lineup or top of the order, he's productive."
Muncy led off the second inning with a home run to center field off Colorado starting pitcher Chad Bettis.
"I didn't think it was going out at all. I thought it was a double," said Muncy.

Then, with two outs in the third inning and runners on first and second, Muncy fouled off five 3-2 pitches from Bettis before launching the 11th pitch of the at-bat into the right-field seats to cut Colorado's lead in the game to 6-4. It was the first multihomer game of Muncy's Major League career.
"He was making good pitches and I was waiting for him to make a mistake," said Muncy. "Thankfully, he left one over the plate at the end there. It was one of those at-bats where I was totally locked in, not thinking about anything at all."
