Good news: The 2016 NL Gold Glove Award winners were announced on Tuesday night, giving us the perfect excuse to look back on this season's very best defense. Somehow, this is Buster "hardware" Posey's first Gold Glove. Let's hope he can fit in his already jam-packed trophy case:
1B:
I mean, when you make a catch like this (for the second time in two years), it's time for you to win your first Gold Glove Award.
2B:
Another first-time winner, the 26-year-old Panik prefers to hook-shot his throws to second base.
He only committed five errors and led all NL second basemen with a .992 fielding percentage.
SS:
Panik's double-play partner won his second consecutive award, leading all National League shortstops in assists (413) and finishing second in putouts (209).
3B:
Arenado has now won a Gold Glove four times -- one for each year he's been in the league. He robs his own teammates of plays. They might as well name the award after him.
LF:
This is Marte's second overall (and consecutive) win. He's one of the few left fielders who can catch both baseballs and teammates at the same time.
CF:
This is the first win for the Braves center fielder. He led his position in assists (12) and double plays (4) -- the latter because he is THE KING OF DEKE:
RF:
This is Heyward's fourth honor and third straight victory. He fought off bee stings, he stole singles and he told runners "NO YOU CANNOT GO HOME!"
