Of course Kevin Kiermaier made a home run-robbing catch to win the game
You may have noticed that
Well, fear not, my friends, for this is Kevin James Kiermaier, a Gold Glover who has a history of making the impossible look routine -- diving backwards for long fly balls and even getting paintings commissioned of his plays. Sometimes, because he's so comfortable out in center field, his most relaxing moments are lying like this across the Tropicana Field fence.
So it comes as no surprise that Kiermaier used his baseball-nabbing powers to finish off the Rays' 7-4 victory over the Indians on Wednesday.
MLB.com's Bill Chastian talked to the oufielder about his game-ending grab and if it made up for some of the errors he's made of late.
"It definitely helps," Kiermaier said. All those defensive miscues I had, I had no explanation for them other than I just have to get better."
And when did he think he had a chance to make the play?
"I just told myself to get back there quick, because I knew how high he hit it. ... The wind was doing crazy things this whole series, and I just wanted to give myself a chance. Do I want to try climbing the wall right now, or do I jump. I just chose to jump and thankfully I caught the ball at its highest point."
