The Mets hit back-to-back homers for the fourth time in five games
Hitting back-to-back home runs is a pretty cool feat, sure, but it's not that rare. We bow to no one in our love of dingers, but it happens quite a few times every year, after all. So, when Lucas Duda and Neil Walker pulled it off during Monday's Mets-Phillies game, we didn't think much of it -- well done, guys, but nothing too far out of the ordinary.
... and then, on Tuesday, they did it again. OK, admittedly pretty crazy, but still, no reason to panic. It's not like the Mets could actually do it ag--
Yes, on Wednesday, Yoenis Cespedes and Duda made sure the Mets would go back-to-back-to-back for a third consecutive night. On Friday against the Braves, tragedy struck -- New York won, 6-3, but alas, the only dingers were of the non-sequential variety. This homer-happy fever dream behind us, we now return to our regularly scheduled programming, wherein baseball teams don't routinely hit home runs in bunches.
Or, alternatively, Walker and Asdrubal Cabrera went back-to-back for the fourth time (!) in the Mets' win on Saturday, because this is our new reality:
It was Cabrera's first home run as a Met, and Walker's fourth in six days. Not bad for your brand new middle of the infield.
