It's happened: L.A. City Council approves naming street outside Dodger Stadium "Vin Scully Ave"
There are a few ways to tell you've made it in life:
1. You get your very own line of cologne.
2. You are elected President.
3. You have a street named after you.
While I would have loved to have applied "Vin Scully Cologne and Aftershave" every morning (I assume it would smell of fresh cut grass and balsa wood), at the very least Los Angeles citizens will now have "Vin Scully Avenue."
On Friday morning, the Los Angeles City Council unanimously passed a motion to rename Elysian Park Avenue. Come next year, if you're writing a letter to Dodger Stadium, you'll be addressing it to 1000 Vin Scully Avenue.
While there are still thirty days to go before the motion is official, allowing any citizens upset with the decision to voice their complaint, I'm also fairly certain that not wanting Vin Scully Avenue is a treasonable offense.
Really, the only question left is whether or not the street will have one of those musical keyboards that plays "It's time for Dodgers baseball" when your car drives over it.
