Mission accomplished! Kyle Lloyd pitched the San Antonio Missions' first solo no-hitter since 1979

Kyle Lloyd had never pitched a complete game during his five years in the Padres' system. Their Double-A affiliate, the San Antonio Missions, had not seen a pitcher go the distance for a no-hitter in 38 years.
Both of those streaks were snapped on a memorable Saturday night at Nelson Wulff Stadium. Lloyd dazzled the Frisco RoughRiders in a 2-0 victory, spinning the Missions' first solo no-hitter since Rick Goulding on July 4, 1979. 

Solo no-hitters are tough to accomplish in the Minors under closely monitored pitch counts, but Lloyd was in complete command. He finished his gem in just 94 pitches, with the only baserunners coming via a second-inning walk and a fifth-inning wild pitch after a strikeout. He retired the last 13 batters in order, inducing a fly ball to right field from Frisco's Scott Heineman to close it out, setting off quite the celebration in San Antonio.

The only question will be whether or not they celebrated appropriately with some '79 classics to fit the mood.
