'Goofy' Sutherland hit a walk-off HR to send Brisbane to its third straight ABLCS
The Brisbane Bandits are looking to become an Australian baseball dynasty. After winning the last two ABL championships, the team will be hunting for their third straight title thanks to the mustachioed power of David Sutherland.
With the game between Brisbane and the Melbourne Aces tied at 8 in the bottom of the ninth, the longtime Bandits first baseman stepped to the plate. On Jon Kennedy's 2-2 pitch, the man who was nicknamed "Goofy" after tripping over his shoelaces as a youth player blasted the ball over the right-center-field wall.
Goofy and the Bandits (which would be an amazing band name) will now face the Canberra Cavalry, who advanced past the Perth Heat thanks to 7 1/3 shutout innings from Frank Gailey.
