ATLANTA -- Continuing their front-office restructuring, the Braves have lured Adam Fisher and Perry Minasian to Atlanta to serve as top aides to general manager John Coppolella.
The Braves announced Fisher will serve as assistant general manager, while Minasian will fill the recently created director of player personnel role. Both will officially join the organization on Monday.
Fisher is a 39-year-old native of Lexington, Mass., who graduated cum laude with a history degree from Harvard in 2001. He will serve as Coppolella's right-hand man within the office and continue to handle many of the same duties he's recently had while establishing himself as one of the top assets within the Mets' front office.
During Fisher's 15 seasons with the Mets, he's worked for four GMs and filled a variety of roles that allowed him to gain experience in the areas of arbitration, contracts, analytics and scouting. He spent four seasons (2013-16) as New York's director of baseball operations, and he became the longest-tenured member in that front office even before being given a senior director title as he handled the same position this year.
As Minasian spent the past nine seasons filling a variety of scouting roles for the Blue Jays, the 37-year-old prepared himself for this new multifaceted role. Along with overseeing the Major League and professional scouting departments, he will work with Fisher and other front-office executives to enhance the organization's analytics department.
Minasian joined the Blue Jays as a scout in 2009 and served six seasons as that club's director of professional scouting before being named special assistant to the general manger for the current season.
Braves president of baseball operations John Hart has some ties with Minasian that date back to their days together within the Rangers organization.
Benefitting from the fact his father was the Rangers' longtime equipment director, Minasian served as a batboy during his childhood, then began a six-season stint in 1997 as one of Texas' clubhouse attendants. Minasian moved into a scouting role with the club in 2003 and spent portions of the next four seasons serving as a staff assistant to former Rangers manager Buck Showalter and the Major League coaching staff.
