Restoring Glory Grants Program
The Atlanta Braves with support from the Atlanta Braves Foundation in 2020 launched the Restoring Glory Grants Program designed to support baseball restoration within the African American community in the Braves region. The Restoring Glory Grants program is growing the game, by supporting and establishing safe and competitive places to play, learn, and grow, with a focus on providing safe playing fields and equipment needs at Historically Black College and Universities (HBCUs) located in the Braves region.
2020: Tuskegee University
For the 2020 baseball season, the Tuskegee University baseball team announced their return to playing on the university campus after an eight-year hiatus. The university rededicated the renovated James B. Washington Field earlier this year, which was named after James B. Washington, the brother of Dr. Booker T. Washington. James organized the university’s first baseball team in 1892 and referred to as “the Father of Athletics at Tuskegee.”
A part of this new renovation, the Atlanta Braves in partnership with Coca-Cola United provided a new branded scoreboard, John Deere gator, and university branded tarp and tarp cover.
