Supreme Court rejects San Jose suit vs. MLB

OAKLAND -- The U.S. Supreme Court has declined to hear San Jose's antitrust lawsuit against Major League Baseball, effectively ending the city's bid to bring the A's there.

A's owner and managing partner Lew Wolff issued the following statement regarding Monday's Supreme Court decision:

"Today, the United States Supreme Court formally declined to consider the City of San Jose's challenge to Major League Baseball's longstanding antitrust exemption. The Court's decision, while significant, has no impact on our intense and unwavering focus on solving our ballpark issue and providing A's fans the first-class experience they deserve."

The team still hopes to build a new venue in Oakland, and Wolff has stated publicly he likes the current Coliseum site as the best option.
