A's make Beloit Snappers their Class A affiliate

The Athletics have agreed to a two-year pact with the Beloit (Wis.) Snappers, who will serve as the organization's Class A affiliate through the 2014 season.

The Midwest League club will replace the Burlington (Iowa) Bees in the A's farm system. Burlington has agreed to a player development contract with the Angels after two years with Oakland.

Beloit was the Class A affiliate of the Twins from 2005 to 2012 and the Brewers for the 23 years before that.

"We are delighted to welcome Beloit to our Minor League system with today's announcement," said Billy Beane, A's vice president and general manager. "It is an established [Class] A market with a strong baseball community and management team. We look forward to a very successful partnership."

The Snappers play their home games at Harry C. Pohlman Field, which seats 3,501.
