A's Claim RHP Will Harris off Waivers from Colorado
OAKLAND, Calif. - The Oakland A's claimed right-handed pitcher Will Harris off waivers from the Colorado Rockies and optioned him to Triple-A Sacramento, the club announced today. To clear a spot on the 40-man roster, the A's designated right-handed pitcher Josh Stinson for assignment.
Harris had two saves and did not allow a run in three spring training appearances (3.0 ip) before he was optioned to Colorado Springs March 15. He was designated for assignment last Friday. Harris began the 2012 season at Double-A Tulsa and had a stop in Triple-A Colorado Springs before finishing the year in the majors with Colorado. The 28-year-old right-hander made his Major League debut Aug. 13 and went 1-1 with an 8.15 ERA in 20 relief appearances with the Rockies.
Stinson was claimed off waivers from Milwaukee March 29. He was 11-9 with a 3.16 ERA in 29 games, 24 starts, with Double-A Huntsville last year. That earned him a September call-up to Milwaukee and he posted a 0.96 ERA in six games, including one start.
