2025 Cactus Jack HBCU Classic
The 3rd Annual Cactus Jack Foundation HBCU Classic is set for Friday, February 14 through Sunday, February 16, 2025 at Minute Maid Park. The Classic, is an annual, round-robin collegiate baseball classic designed by the Astros Youth Academy and Astros Foundation and to highlight Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) and their baseball programs.
The nine-game tournament will feature Houston-area Prairie View A&M and Texas Southern University, and four schools from neighboring Louisiana, Mississippi and Alabama – Southern University, Grambling State, Jackson State, and Alabama A&M University.
- Round-robin format with three (3) games each on Friday, Saturday and Sunday
- State to State game matchups (JSU vs AAMU.; GSU vs. SUBR; TSU vs. PVAMU)
- College fair hosted by the Astros Youth Academy highlighting over 100 colleges and universities.
While the Minute Maid Park roof protects from rain and excessive heat, the ballpark gets cold in the winter months. When planning your day, be sure to dress as if you are watching these games outdoors.

Divine 9/HBCU Alumni Happy Hour - Friday, February 14
We're rolling out the welcome mat for everyone as we kick-off the 2025 HBCU Classic with a special Divine 9/HBCU Alumni Happy Hour. Come out and enjoy an evening of baseball, great energy and good vibes at Minute Maid Park. The fun starts at 5:00 PM in the Gallagher Club. Fellowship with HBCU Alum and wear your best Greek/HBCU attire. Tickets are $50.00 per person and include food and admission to all nine (9) HBCU Classic games. Get your tickets today!
Conoco-Phillips College Fair – Saturday, February 15
The Conoco-Phillips College Fair hosted by the Astros Youth Academy is set to take place at Minute Maid Park from 11:00am to 1:00pm on Saturday, February 15, 2025. The college fair is free for high school students in 9th to 12th grade and their parents and will feature over 100 colleges, universities, and military recruiters. Each participating student will receive a ticket to attend the tournament on the day of the event. Registration is required so sign your student up today!
Gospel Breakfast – Sunday, February 16
Join the Astros Foundation on Sunday, February 16th for the 2025 HBCU Classic Gospel Breakfast. Tickets are $25.00 per person and include admission to all HBCU Classic Sunday games at Minute Maid Park.

The Breakfast will take place in the Phillips 66 Diamond Club. Patrons with HBCU Gospel Breakfast tickets may enter the ballpark through the Home Plate/Premium entrance. Event time is 9:00 – 10:30am.
