Visiting Clubhouse Manager
Steve Perry has worked for the Astros organization since 1979 and has served as the visiting clubhouse manager since 1989.
Over the years, Perry has developed a fine reputation in Major League Baseball for his work. He is a three-time winner (2000, 2008-09) of the Pete Sheehy Clubhouse Award (Clubhouse Manager of the Year), which is given out annually to a home and visiting clubhouse manager. The award is voted on by his peers within the MLB Clubhouse Manager’s Association.
He also earned the Fred Hartman Long and Meritorious Service to Baseball Award in 2013, named by the Houston Chapter of the Baseball Writers Association of America.
Perry joined the Astros as a bat boy at the start of the 1979 season, but by the All-Star Break was promoted to an assistant in the visiting clubhouse. He was named visiting clubhouse manager in 1989, and has filled that role since. During his Astros tenure, Steve has worked five All-Star games and 16 postseason runs.
Perry is fluent in Spanish, having spent several years of his childhood in South America after his father was relocated for work. He and his wife, Jessica, reside in Houston and have two daughters, Nicole and Amanda.
