Astros All-Star center fielder George Springer left Thursday’s 5-4 walk-off loss to the D-backs with a right wrist strain. His status is day to day.

Springer, the catalyst atop Houston’s lineup, made a diving catch while running forward to rob D-backs designated hitter Andy Young of a hit in the fifth inning at Chase Field. Springer didn’t appear to favor the wrist on his throwing hand at any point immediately after the catch.

“I don’t know if he’s available [Friday] or not,” Astros manager Dusty Baker said. “We’ll see. Nothing is broken. It’s just a wrist strain. I’m hoping he’ll be alright in a couple of days. I’m just glad it wasn’t broken or fractured. He did it on the fine play he made in center field.”

Springer went 0-for-3 before Myles Straw came on as a defensive replacement in the seventh inning. Springer fractured his right wrist during the 2015 season and missed two months of action.
