NEW YORK -- When Astros designated hitter Evan Gattis gets hot, his at-bats are must-see baseball.
Gattis continued his torrid pace in Tuesday's 6-5, 10-inning loss to the Yankees, going 1-for-3 with a solo homer and a sacrifice fly. He's hitting .315 with six home runs and 16 RBIs in his last 17 games, raising his batting average 50 points in the process.
Gattis' leadoff homer in the second inning off Yankees starter Carsten Sabathia tied the game, and it was Gattis' third career hit off Sabathia, all of which have been homers.
Gattis is hitting .296 (24-for-81) in 25 games on the road, compared to just .153 (9-for-59) in 21 games at home this season. Nine of his last 13 hits have gone for extra bases, including six homers.
