Friday was a special day for many reasons for Juan Soto. The Yankees star was not only playing in his second career World Series but he also turned 26 years old. Birthdays are always important, but especially when you’re a superstar playing in the Fall Classic.

To help celebrate the occasion, Braves second baseman and 2024 World Series correspondent Ozzie Albies surprised Soto on the field with a birthday cupcake ahead of the Game 1 opener at Dodger Stadium.

The birthday ended on a sour note for Soto, who could only watch as Freddie Freeman's walk-off grand slam sealed a 6-3 victory for the Dodgers.

Soto hardly needed more good vibes heading into the World Series, but Albies -- a former NL East rival when Soto was with the Nationals -- certainly tried to bring some. Soto had enjoyed a memorable postseason run to this point, running a 1.106 OPS in the Yankees’ first two playoff rounds while hitting the pivotal game-winning home run in Game 5 of the ALCS vs. Cleveland.

Soto tried to carry his playoff success into the World Series, going 1-for-3 with two walks and a run scored. With Albies providing a little extra mojo, Soto might have a bit more in store for this Series against the Dodgers.
