When MLB Pipeline’s Top 100 Prospects list for 2025 was released last week, the Marlins had three representatives in the rankings -- a pair of the best pitchers in the 2023 Draft class and a shortstop considered to be not only the best defensive player in that year’s international class, but arguably the best defensive player in the Minor Leagues.
Left-hander Thomas White came in at No. 41, shortstop Starlyn Caba is ranked No. 81 and right-hander Noble Meyer is ranked 85th among the game’s Top 100 prospects.

White, 20, is a 6-foot-5, 210-pound lefty who was considered the top southpaw in the 2023 Draft class. Miami selected him 35th overall out of high school and signed him for a bonus of $4.1 million. He has a fastball that sits between 94 and 97 mph with significant carry and run. His secondary offerings include an 81-85 mph slider with good horizontal action, as well as a solid mid-80s changeup.
In his first full season of pro ball at age 19 in 2024, White was excellent, posting a 2.81 ERA over 21 starts (96 innings) between Single-A Jupiter and High-A Beloit, striking out 120 and walking 38. If his control and command continue to get better, MLB Pipeline sees him as a potential No. 1 starter in the big leagues.
Caba has been assigned 80-grade defensive abilities on the 20-80 scouting scale. The 19-year-old shortstop, who was signed by the Phillies out of the Dominican Republic in 2023 and traded to the Marlins in the deal that sent Jesús Luzardo to Philadelphia earlier this offseason, is seen as having Gold Glove potential in the Majors. He’s smooth with good range and a solid arm, and he has plus speed on the basepaths.
At the plate, Caba isn’t going to wow anyone with power, but he’s a switch-hitter who makes contact to all fields and has a patient approach that results in an above-average walk rate.
Meyer, 20, is another 6-foot-5 hurler signed out of high school in 2023 and was considered the best prep arm in that Draft class. The Marlins selected the right-hander 10th overall and signed him for a below-slot value at $4.5 million, making it possible to offer a higher bonus to White 25 picks later.
Featuring a 93-95 mph fastball with arm-side run, a good slider with two-plane movement that could be a wipeout pitch in a best-case scenario, a curveball and a changeup which could each be plus pitches at the next level, Meyer has the potential to be a front-end starter in the Majors. In two Minor League seasons, he has a 4.02 ERA over 85 innings.
