Aug. 2, 1997: A trio of firsts

Todd Helton got the call and did not disappoint in his debut against Pittsburgh. He went 2-for-4 with a single in his 1st at-bat, then a HR later in the game.

May 1, 2000: A night to remember

In arguably the best season of his career, Helton garnered national attention with his 3-HR performance against the Expos. He finished the year an All-Star, Silver Slugger, MLB batting champion and RBI leader.

Aug. 21, 2000: Elite company

Nobody's finished a season hitting .400 since Ted Williams in 1941. Helton came close when he reached the .400 mark late in the season, but finished the year hitting .372.

2001: Extended

Thanks to his insane 2000 season, the Rockies rewarded Helton with a nine-year, $131 million extension.

Sept. 18, 2007: Keeping the season alive

One swing was all Helton needed to keep the Rockies season alive. He hit a 2-run, walk-off HR off Dodgers closer Takashi Saito. The win helped the Rockies eventually secure a Wild Card berth.

Oct. 15, 2007: NLCS champions

There's nothing like the taste of playoff baseball. Helton played in his 1st postseason, leading the Rockies to the World Series against the Red Sox.

May 19, 2009: Hit No. 2,000

Helton got his 2,000th hit in Atlanta on a single ...

July 22, 2009: Double No. 500

... Then career double No. 500 at home against the D-backs. He became the 50th player to reach the milestone, and the fastest to do so since 1954.

Sept. 19, 2013: A kid at heart

In what felt like a scene from a movie, Helton tricked Matt Carpenter in a clip that needs to be seen to be believed.

September 25, 2013: Movie script ending

In his 1st at-bat of his final game, Helton sent a moonshot into the Rocky Mountain night. He finished his career with 2,519 hits, 369 HRs and a .316 BA.

Aug. 17, 2014: Legendary

Helton became the first member of the Rockies' organization to have his number retired.

Jan. 23, 2024: Helton gets the call

Helton receives the call of a lifetime after spending six years on the ballot. He was on 79.7% of the ballots and becomes just the 2nd member of the Rockies elected to Cooperstown.
