Senior Vice President, Fenway Park Tours, Engagement and Experiences
Marcita Thompson was named to the Boston Red Sox executive team in 2015, and through successive leadership roles she was promoted to Senior Vice President of Fenway Park Tours, Engagement and Experiences in 2023.
As an early advocate and leader in creative business strategies, Marcita established a competitive business model to achieve success in Fenway Enterprises and Fenway Park Tours. Launched in 2003, Fenway Enterprises and Fenway Park Tours became a unique and established venue for events and walking tour destinations. Throughout her tenure, she has served in various marketing, sales, hospitality, community, operations, and sponsor related roles. Which have contributed to the growing success and industry leading initiatives within the industry and city of Boston.
Under Marcita's leadership, the Boston Red Sox have honored some of the most iconic legends and barrier breakers in Major League Baseball. From the 90th anniversary of the team being established in the American League, the 1999 All Star Game All Century Team ceremony, producing the 2004 and 2007 World Series Galas. An early advocate of social media marketing, influencing cultural awareness, creating new business strategies to increase international partnerships and growth. Enhancing the experiences and opportunities for visitors and Red Sox fans all over the world.
Thanks to her extensive experience and knowledge in many industries, Marcita Thompson continues to elevate the Boston Red Sox brand through engagement and leading business practices. Marcita serves on the Red Sox' Social Justice Equity and Inclusion Advisory Committee, the "Take the Lead" program, the first-of-its-kind partnership between Boston's six major professional sports teams designed to combat racism and hate speech in sports venues and the Boston community.
Marcita is a founding Board Member on the UMass Boston Sport Leadership Bachelor's degree program, is an Advisory Board Member for the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston, the National Council Attractions & Experiences, and a member of CHIEF. Marcita was named WISE "Mentor of the Year" award in 2022.
Marcita grew up in Mesa, AZ., received her degree in Social and Behavioral Sciences from the University of Arizona, where she was student-athlete and intern in the Athletics' Department. Working closely and under the tutelage of the first female Assistant Athletic Director in NCAA Division I sports programs, Kathleen LaRose.
Marcita resides in Dorchester, Massachusetts with her husband, Roy, and their two children, Roy II, and Maliah.
