CINCINNATI -- The Reds made their first acquisition of the offseason on Thursday when they acquired infielder/outfielder Nick Solak in a trade with the Rangers for cash considerations.

Solak, 27, has played second base, third base, first base, left field and center field in parts of four Major League seasons with Texas since 2019. In 253 career games, he has slashed .252/.327/.372 with 21 home runs.

In 2022, Solak split time between the big leagues and Triple-A. He finished the season on the 60-day injured list because of a right foot fracture. In 35 big league games, he batted .207 with three homers.

During 2021, Solak hit 11 homers with 49 RBIs while playing in a career-high 127 games.

A former Top 30 prospect according to MLB Pipeline, Solak was a second-round selection by the Yankees in the 2016 Draft out of the University of Louisville. In 2018, he was traded to the Rays as part of a three-team deal that sent future Reds player Brandon Drury to the Yankees from Arizona. Then in '19, the Rays traded Solak to the Rangers for Pete Fairbanks.

With Solak’s addition, the Reds have a full 40-man roster.
