CHIEF PEOPLE AND COMMUNITY OFFICER
Bill Wiener Jr. enters his 27th year with the Rays and second as chief people and community officer. In this role, he oversees human resources, community engagement, and stadium and event operations. Wiener works to refine processes and develop greater efficiencies, focusing on the fan and employee experience. He was named Rays co-Employee of the Year in 2002. He joined the Rays organization in 1996 as a member of the administration department, and throughout his tenure with the Rays has gained experience in many facets of the business. In 2022, Bill was appointed by the Office of the Commissioner to serve as trustee of Major League Baseball’s league-wide insurance program. Prior to joining the Rays, he worked for the law firm retained by the Tampa Bay ownership group to acquire a Major League Baseball franchise. Wiener earned his bachelor’s degree in pre-law and criminal studies from the University of South Florida. Outside of the office, Bill is involved with Buddy Baseball and currently coaches one of its teams. He and his wife, Elena, reside in Clearwater with their daughters, Kaitlyn and Brenna.
