The Chicago White Sox have acquired left-handed pitcher Caleb Frare from the New York Yankees in exchange for international signing bonus pool money.
 
Frare, 25, is 4-1 with a 0.81 ERA (4 ER/44.2 IP), five saves, 58 strikeouts, a 0.94 WHIP and .174 opponents average (27-155) in 32 combined relief appearances between Class AA Trenton and Class AAA Scranton/Wilkes-Barre this season. The 6-foot-4, 215-pound Frare opened the season with Trenton and did not allow a run in 27 of his 31 outings. Each of his final seven appearances were scoreless (8.0 IP) with 10 strikeouts before he was promoted to Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on Thursday. 
 
Frare, a native of Miles City, Mont., is limiting left-handers to a .164 (10-61) average, and opponents overall to a .182 (8-44) mark with RISP this season. He has converted five of his six save chances and surrendered one home run in 2018.
Frare has gone 18-12 with a 2.37 ERA (62 ER/235.0 IP), nine saves and 269 strikeouts (10.3 per 9.0 IP) in 150 career appearances (two starts) over seven seasons (2012-18) in the Yankees organization. He was selected by New York-AL in the 11th round of the 2012 First-Year Player Draft out of Custer County (Mont.) High School. 
 
Frare will be assigned to Class AAA Charlotte.
