Reed, 29, has played seven seasons in the major leagues with Chicago-AL, Arizona, New York-NL and Boston, going 18-21 with a 3.40 ERA (402.2 IP, 152 ER), 125 saves, 104 walks and 425 strikeouts in 410 games. The Montclair, California native split the 2017 season between the Mets and Red Sox, combining to go 2-3 with a 2.84 ERA (76.0 IP, 24 ER), 19 saves, 15 walks and 76 strikeouts in 77 games. The 6-foot-4, 230-pound Reed was originally drafted by the White Sox in the third round of the 2010 First-Year Player Draft out of San Diego State University.
To make room on the Twins 40-man roster, they have designated left-handed pitcher Buddy Boshers for release or assignment.
