**SURPRISE, Ariz.**—The Royals announced this morning that they have acquired outfielder Mark Canha (CAN-uh) from Milwaukee for a player to be named later or cash considerations. Canha was a non-roster invite in Major League camp with the Brewers. He is in today’s starting lineup and will wear No. 21.

Canha, 36, has played 10 seasons in the Major Leagues with the Athletics (2015-21), Mets (2022-23), Brewers (2023), Tigers (2024) and Giants (2024).

In 125 games last season with Detroit and San Francisco, he hit .242 (95-for-393) with 20 doubles and 7 home runs. In 129 plate appearances vs. left-handed pitchers last season, he hit .275 (30-for-109) with a .774 OPS.

Since his 2015 debut season, Canha ranks 2nd in the Majors with 138 hit-by-pitches, trailing only Anthony Rizzo (194). He set an Athletics franchise record with 27 hit-by-pitches in 2021 and a Mets franchise record in 2022 with 28, and led the Majors in that category both seasons.

His best season came with the Athletics in 2019, when he hit .273 with 26 home runs and a .913 OPS in 126 games.

Canha has appeared in five postseasons, with the Athletics from 2018-20, Mets in 2022 and Brewers in 2023.
